Snow day! [12 Oct 2006|06:24pm]
Remember how I said it was a light dusting?

I lied. It's been snowstorming like mad all day--we got some accumulation for a while, but then the sun came out for ten minutes and wasted it, but it's back again and coming down strong. Not only that, but it's good snowball snow. Ethan's neck experienced this firsthand three times.

Holy crap! [12 Oct 2006|09:08am]
Sure it was only enough to cover the cars and rooftops, but DAMN IT, IT SNOWED. WEEEEEE!

Fanfiction progress, autumnal bliss [04 Oct 2006|10:57pm]
Ambivalent Lucidity is going great the second time around. I'm really into it, and in the past week and a half or so, I've written 22k words. It feels nice to write again, very therapeutic for me at the moment. I'm having some weird internal conflict which has become very prominent lately, and I just want to get away from it. Thank you, Harry/Draco confusion.

Work has been going just fine, and I love the weather right now. It's very chilly, and I can't wait for winter so I can snuggle with my sweetie when it's cold out. Little lizard is doing all right, and I'm thinking of naming his Draco or something similar, but Draco is so cliche, so maybe like...Draconis or something. He is a dragon, after all.

I really want my laptop to work again, which will require $40 to buy a new powercord. Ugh.

One thousand reviews! [17 Sep 2006|09:34am]
This morning, I finally hit one thousand reviews on Ambivalent Lucidity (people are rereading now that I'm rewriting), and I am beyond words on this. I hit a thousand--I HIT A THOUSAND. *Spaz*

Picture post, illness [08 Sep 2006|06:22pm]
[ mood | calm ]
[ music | Mack the Knife--Michael Buble ]

I've been feeling weird lately--I feel a little nostalgic for UTK in the fall (it's gorgeous) but I know that if I were there that I would be sooo miserable--but it's certainly nothing I can't handle. Ethan and I are doing wonderfully, despite his constant illness (think violently puking all night), and our lizard is doing just fine. You can see some recent pictures at the end of the post!

So yeah, Ethan had a headache last night when Bex was over, then she and I left for the store meeting that didn't happen. When I came back, Ethan came down to help bring up the rock from Hammond's for the lizard cage, and when I came in behind him, he was face down on the bed. Me: ? I sat down with him and he was all, "Ugh I wish I could puke...Excuse me." Then like five seconds later he's retching into the toilet. It was bad--an all night sort of thing. Poor baby--<lj user=bex> is the greatest person ever and covered my shift this morning so I could care for him. He's feeling better now--at least a little. He can't move too fast.

Mine and Ethan's anniversary is the end of this month--anyone have any ideas?

Liz! [06 Sep 2006|09:33am]

I have a picture of my baby!

Isn't she gorgeous? She just shed her tail in this picture, and so it's brighter than when I got her. She's a fascinating creature.

Work today at noon...Blah.

New pet! [01 Sep 2006|09:08pm]
[ mood | dorky ]

So on Thursday, I went and bought myself a new companion--a bearded dragon. Though I am doubtful both of name and gender, this baby is such a sweetie! I'm determined to feed him only the best, so he gets well fed on gut-loaded crickets and is offered fresh apple shavings (he shows utter lack of interest, even when it is placed against his scaly lips). I tried to take a picture for you guys, but it's nighttime and I don't feel like turning on a light and disturbing his sleep cycle.

As a direct result, I have a very small tank filled with crickets. It's gross.

My beautiful fish died for no reason. I am distraught and had quite a fit when Ethan walked in early from work five minutes after I discovered the corpse, and I had a bit of a crying fit...It's scared me off doing fish for a while, at least.

We came to the conclusion (before dead fish) that the 75 is way too heavy for a fishtank on the third floor of an old building, so we're making it into a desert tank for a Bearded Dragon. I'm trying to acquire a little one so I can raise it up myself. :D

The 2.5 gallon my fish was housed in will also be converted into a terrarium for a Poison Dart Frog from this breeder (I think, unless a guy instore has a pretty one of such color available). I am very, very excited about this new development, and can't wait to have a little vial of death right on my desktop!*

*This breed of PDF is not toxic.

[ music | It's Not Unusual--Tom Jones ]

In a bout of being the best boss ever, Rick sold me the seventy-five gallon for fifty bucks. FIFTY. KSJFHKSJDFHKJSDHFKSDJFHKSDJFH! I have to go down this morning and pay for it and stuff. I'm so excited. :D!

We're going to talk to our landlord about how well the floor will be able to handle the weight. We're convinced the floor will hold it, since the weight is evenly distributed, but if it won't, we'll just use the tank as a reptile cage until we have a bigger place that's lower to the ground. In the case of it being a reptile tank, I don't even know what I would want to put in it! I'll check that out today.

This is my new schedule at work (more for my reference than yours):

Monday: 9:30-4
Tuesday: 10-4
Wednesday: 12-5
Friday: 10-4
Sunday: 11-6

That's 30.5 hours, and considering how I'm always early for everything, maybe a little more than that. Once all my house charges clear (the next few weeks will be weeks of shitty paychecks), I'll be getting checks around $150, I hope I hope, and that's after taxes. Good times.

Our baby niece that was in the hospital died last evening. This is the second baby Chris has lost...I won't even have any idea what to say to him. At least they still have Madelynn, but no parent should have to bury his child, much less two.

Lucky me gets to be the one to tell Ethan when he gets home, then I leave for work right after. Great.

[ mood | drained ]

Today was a good and lazy day. I had the day off, but Ethan did not, so he left for work around 8:30. I dicked around on the internet for a while and go tin the shower around 10:15, and lo and behold, Ethan sneaks in and rips back the curtain screaming "BOO!" at me fifteen minutes later. He was already only scheduled for eight hours this week, so now that it's down to five...Ugh. We're gonna be broke his next paycheck (luckily I get a steady 23-24 hours a week).

So we're going to buy a fishtank. I've shopped around and determined that I will be buying this tank from Petsmart if I'm going to buy one unused, because it is $200 for the tank, a glass top, and the hood to go over. This is a good deal, considering at work I would pay $120 for the tank, $50 for the top, and like $60 for the hood.

There is also this: http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/auction.cgi?aquariums100&1155422598 , which is sexy as hell. I have contacted the seller and he has shown me beautiful pictures--the tank is still holding fish and set up, and for $100, I get the tank, everything that goes into it technical-wise (filter, heating, etc.), a beautiful stand/canopy, lighting, and a couple of fish (a breeding pair of Venustus, a breeding trio of blood parrots, and some kind of catfish). I probably won't be keeping these fish--those will likely be for the store if I take them at all. [info]bex, would the store take a breeding Venustus pair?

The catch with this tank is that I have to pick it up in Indiana. This is a 2.5 hour drive down, which isn't that bad, but there's not room in our car for the tank, it's various parts, and the stand/canopy. Does anyone have any ideas for this?

I just needed to post to show off my new icon. I've never done an animation in Photoshop before, so I like to thinkit is quite an accomplishment.
